What is the Meaning of Success?

While we all long to be successful, many people never stop to consider the meaning of success.

What about you?

While it might be helpful to read other people's quotes about success, it's important to determine what success means to you. Having the meaning of success in mind as you make a fresh start in a home business income opportunity is important because it serves as a compass, keeping you headed in the right direction. Without it, you risk getting off track, losing sight of your destination, and getting lost along the way.

Success defined

When I think of success, I think of the accomplishment of an intended purpose.

In the case of a home based business start up, the purpose is actually the WHY behind starting a business in the first place. In other words, it's the reason you want to supplement or replace your income; it's the means to your end of living your God-given dreams!

My purpose

When I first considered starting a home based business, it was because I knew we needed extra income and I liked the idea of being my own boss. In my mind, the bottom line was my need to replace my income after leaving my previous career.

However, until I tapped into the purpose or “WHY” behind my need for extra money, I didn't know what success looked like, and I didn't know what it would take to be successful. Once I recognized that our intended purpose, our WHY, was to work together as a couple and be more generous with our time, talent and treasure beyond our full-time working years, I knew I was headed in the right direction. Earning extra income so we could accomplish our intended purpose – that defined success for me!

• Was it because, like us, you want to enjoy active, vital retirement years despite your inadequate or dwindling savings?

Or do you need to supplement or replace your income for things like:

• Staying home with your kids?
• Sending your children to private school or paying for college?

No matter WHY you want to start a home-based business, the accomplishment of your intended purpose defines the meaning of success for you. Once defined, you can direct your efforts toward it and you'll have the satisfaction of knowing when you've achieved it!
